vor kurzem hatten meine Familie und ich die Möglichkeit, nach Katar zu reisen. Die Reise war sehr anstrengend aber es hat sich gelohnt alhamdulillah. Katar ist ein islamisches Land auf der arabischen Halbinsel, das Klima ist trocken-heiß. In Katar wohnen mehr Äuslander als Einheimische. Ich habe die Menschen dort als sehr höflich und ordentlich kennengelernt, es war überall sehr sauber und man hat sich als Famlie gut aufgehoben und auch sehr sicher gefühlt. An einem Tag haben wir einen sehr bekannten Reitstall in Doha, der Hauptstadt, besichtigt. Hier findet ihr die Homepage des Stalls:
Ein junger Mann hat uns die Ställe gezeigt und die Anlage vorgestellt. Was er uns über den Stall erzählt hat, habe ich hier mit Satzzeichen markiert und sinngemäß wiedergegeben, er sprach auf Englisch und Arabisch.
Ich erzähle euch ein bisschen von dem, was er uns erklärt hat und unten findet ihr natürlich wie immer ein paar Fotos!
Als wir Nachmittags am Stall ankamen, standen vor dem Haupteingang mehrere kleine Autos, sogenannte Golfcarts. Und mit einem von dem sind wir dann auch losgefahren Richtung Stall, ja, der Stall war so groß dass man tatsächlich ein Auto braucht um von A nach B zu kommen! Allahumma baarik.
Zuerst ging es eine lange Sandstraße entlang zum Trainingsstall. Dort sind wir ausgestiegen und haben eine riesige Halle betreten. Rechts war eine große Führanlage, in der Pferde im Schritt im Kreis liefen. Sie alle haben einen entspannten Eindruck gemacht. Links waren einige Boxen, und hinter den Boxen ein breiter Weg, hinter dem sich ein langes Schwimmbecken für die Pferde befand. Neben dem Schwimmbecken kann man neben dem Pferd laufen und es an einer Longe führen. Der ganze Boden war mit Gummimatten ausgelegt. Das ist sehr schonend für die Gelenke und besser als Stein, auch in einigen Parks für Menschen waren die Wege nicht geteert, sondern aus Gummimatten. Den Stallbetreibern ist es wichtig, dass die Pferde immer fit bleiben. Sie konzentrieren sich aber hauptsächlich auf Zucht und Schönheitswettbewerbe, und weniger auf Dressur und Springen, aber auch das gibt es, sagte uns der Führer. Natürlich gab es auch eine Rennbahn und eine Reithalle auf dem Gelände. Zurück im Auto fuhren wir weiter und links und rechts konnte man lange Reitwege, Paddocks und sogar eine grüne Weide erkennen!
Den nächsten Stopp machten wir bei den Paddocks. Große, eingezäunte Sandflächen mit einem Unterstand, unter dem dem sich die Pferde aufhielten. "Die Pferde kommen jetzt im Winter fast den ganzen Tag raus, und im Sommer, wenn es heiß ist, halten sie sich im klimatisierten Stall auf und werden nachts auf die Paddocks gelassen. Zweimal am Tag werden die Pferde mit Kraftfutter gefüttert, aber auch Heu gibt es, das wird aus Amerika importiert. " Es hat mir gut gefallen, dass die Pferde so viel rauskommen und viel Bewegung haben. Es schien mir, als würde sich mit sehr viel Liebe (und noch viel mehr Geld :-D Allahumma baarik) um sie gekümmert werden.
Anschließend ging es weiter zum Stall. Die Stallgasse war sehr breit und wieder war der komplette Boden mit Gummi ausgelegt. Links und rechts befanden sich die Boxen, die arabischen Vollblüter standen hinter leuchtend violettfarbenden Boxentüren, die Metallstäbe glänzten. "Die Idee für das Design kommt aus Frankreich", sagte uns der Führer. Die Boxen an sich waren mit deutschen Maßstäben kaum zu vergleichem, bei uns hätte man aus einer dieser Boxen wahrscheinlich fünf gemacht. Die Boxen waren mit sauberen Spänen oder Leinstroh eingestreut.
Die letzte Station war die riesige klimatisierte Reithalle und der Reitplatz, dazwischen war die Tribüne, überdacht. Dort gab es auch einen Shop für Souveniers.
Rund 300 Mitarbeiter kümmern sich um das Wohl der Pferde. Die Mitarbeiter, kommen wie in Katar üblich, meist aus dem Ausland.

Recently my family and I had the opportunity to travel to Qatar. The journey was very tiring but it was worth it alhamdulillah. Qatar is an Islamic country on the Arabian Peninsula, the climate is hot and dry. More foreigners than locals live in Qatar. I got to know the people there as very polite and tidy, it was very clean everywhere and you felt that you were in good hands and also very safe. One day we visited a well-known riding stable in Doha, the capital. Here is the stable's website:
A young man showed us the stables and presented the facility. What he told us about the barn I have marked with punctuation marks and reproduced here analogously, he spoke in English and Arabic.
I'll tell you a bit about what he explained to us and of course, as always, you'll find some photos above the text!
When we arrived at the barn in the afternoon, there were several small cars, so-called golf carts, parked in front of the main entrance. And we drove off with one of them towards the barn, yes, the barn was so big that you actually need a car to get from one place to another! Allahumma baarik/ May Allah bless it.
First we went along a long sandy road to the training stable. We got out there and entered a huge hall. To the right was a large horse walker in which horses walked in circles. They all made a very relaxed impression. On the left were some boxes, and behind the boxes there was a wide path, behind which there was a long swimming pool for horses. Next to the pool you can walk next to the horse and lead it on a lunge line. The whole floor was covered with rubber mats. This is very joint-gentle and better than stone floor, even in some parks for people the paths were not tarred but made out of rubber mats. It is important for the stable operators that the horses always stay fit. But they are mainly focused on breeding and beauty contests, and less on dressage and jumping, the guide told us. Of course there was also a racetrack and a riding hall. Back in the car we drove on and left and right you could see long bridle paths, paddocks and even a green pasture!
We made the next stop at the paddocks. Large, fenced sand areas with a shelter where the horses can rest and find shadow. "The horses now leave their stables and are outside almost all day in the winter, and in the summer when it's hot they stay in the air-conditioned stable and are let out in the paddocks at night. Twice a day the horses are fed concentrate, but we also feed them hay, it's imported from America." I really liked that the horses get out so much and have a lot of exercise. It seemed to me that they were being taken care of with a lot of love (and a lot more money :-D Allahumma baarik).
Then we went on to the barn. The stable lane was very wide and, again, the entire floor was covered with rubber. The stalls were to the left and right, the Arabian thoroughbreds stood behind bright violet stall doors, the metal bars gleamed. "The idea for the design comes from France," said the guide. The boxes themselves could hardly be compared with German standards, one of these boxes would probably have been made into five here in Germany. The boxes were laid out with flax straw or something similar to this. I am not sure.
The last station was the huge, air-conditioned riding hall and the riding arena, with the grandstand in between, covered. There was also a shop for souvenirs.
Around 300 employees take care of the well-being of the horses. As is usual in Qatar, most of the employees come from abroad.
