es war ein schöner Sonntagnachmittag, als ich wieder einen Ausritt unternahm. Mittlerweile kennt man mich am neuen Stall und es gab keine komischen Blicke mehr. Ein älterer Herr brachte mir das Pferd, das ich reiten sollte, und half mir beim Aufsatteln. Nach einer Weile schaute er mich an, hielt kurz inne und sagte dann: "Ein sehr außergewöhnliches Outfit, was Sie da tragen!"
Hm. Ich kenne es ja schon. Aber was soll man darauf antworten... Aber Recht hat er. Sehr außergewöhnlich.
"Ja, das stimmt", meinte ich nur mit einem Lächeln.
"Nunja, ich darf doch fragen, oder... ist nicht böse gemeint. Ist mir ja egal, was jemand für religiöse und politische Ansichten hat, wir freuen uns über jeden der hier reiten kommt. Nur, ich habe so etwas halt noch nie beim Reiten gesehen, also dass Sie das auch beim Reiten anziehen," erwiderte der Herr freundlich.
"Ja, ich weiß, kein Problem, es ist sehr selten jemanden in Kopftuch und Kleid am Reitstall zu sehen. Aber wissen Sie, darunter trage ich ganz normale Reitkleidung, den Rock habe ich selber designt und den trage ich darüber, der ist extra fürs Reiten" sagte ich.
"Ah, so ist das! Ja stimmt, wir hatten mal eine hier aus so einem Königshaus ich weiß nicht mehr von wo, die hatte auch sowas an... so lange Kleidung und darunter, so hat sie mir gezeigt, hatte sie eine normale Jeans an!"
Oh ja, ich bin immer wieder erstaunt, dass die Frauen unter dem Reitrock noch eine Hose anhaben ;-) Nun, das ist es, was ich gerne ändern möchte. Auf der Straße hat man sich an das Bild der Kopftücher gewöhnt, in der Stadt, in Geschäften, im Bus, im Restaurant. Aber am Reitstall nein, da kennt man es nicht. Mag zum einen daran liegen, dass nicht viele muslimische Mädchen reiten, entweder weil die Möglichkeiten dazu fehlen oder weil das Interesse nicht besteht. Und zum anderen könnte es daran liegen, dass die muslimischen Frauen, die reiten, vielleicht generell leider keinen Hijab tragen, oder zum Reiten den Rock gegen Reithose tauschen, was sehr schade ist. Nun, ich möchte dazu beitragen, dass eine bedeckte Frau am Reitstall als normal angesehen wird und den Menschen klar wird, dass wir Muslimas auch mit Rock reiten können. Vor noch knapp 100 Jahren war es für Frauen ganz normal, in langen Kleidern zu reiten... Heute aber scheint das ein Problem zu sein. Klar, Reithosen sind praktisch und wurden nicht ohne Grund erfunden, aber warum nicht darüber noch einen Rock tragen, um sein Hobby auch halal zu machen? Und das Reiten ohne schlechtes Gewissen genießen zu können?
"Sagen Sie mir wenn Sie die Fragerei stört, ich bin nur neugierig... " sagte mir der Mann plötzlich.
"Ach, das ist doch kein Problem, wissen Sie, es ist mir lieber, wenn jemand fragt, als dass mich jemand einfach nur anstarrt und sich seine eigenen Dinge im Kopf zusammenreimt, die vielleicht gar nicht stimmen.. Manche Leute denken ich bin Türkin, aber nein, ich bin Deutsche. Also fragt mich doch!"
Oft ist mir aufgefallen, dass Leute, die wirklich ehrlich aus Interesse fragen, eine Scheu davor haben, ihre Fragen zu stellen. Aber nein, bitte, fragt doch! Fragt die muslimischen Frauen, warum sie sich bedecken, fragt sie, warum sie ihre Religion lieben, fragt sie, warum sie beten, fragt fragt fragt! Sie werden sicher gerne antworten. Ich bin mir sicher, das ist den meisten lieber, als mit Blicken gleich verurteilt zu werden (für etwas das meistens nicht wahr ist und nicht auf die Person zutrifft). Wenn es eine ehrliche Frage ist, höflich formuliert, bekommt man auch eine höfliche ehrliche Antwort.
Und nochmal...Da es immer noch nicht alle mitbekommen haben: Jaaa wir tragen das Kopftuch freiwillig! Weil es im Islam Pflicht ist. Und wenn Allah uns etwas befiehlt, dann, weil es gut für uns ist. Und wenn er uns etwas verbietet, dann weil es schlecht für uns ist. Und wir vertrauen auf Allah und zu ihm kehren wir zurück. Und diejenigen, die gezwungen werden, das Kopftuch auszuziehen oder daran gehindert werden, überhaupt eins anzuziehen, sind viiiiel mehr als umgekehrt, glaubt mir.
Die Unterhaltung mit dem Mann schien beendet und er winkte mir freundlich zu, als wir vom Hof ritten. Es war ein toller Ausritt. Noch recht zu Anfang des Ausritts bat uns die Rittführerin darum, die Pferde zu tauschen, da eine Reiterin mit ihrem Pferd nicht zurecht kam. Ich sollte ihr Pferd übernehmen. Beim Absteigen dann kam die peinliche Situation, wovor sich jede reitende Muslima mit Hijab fürchtet: Man bleibt hängen. Sehr peinlich, ist mir eigentlich noch nie passiert... Nun, ich hatte vergessen, dass ich ja jetzt im Westernsattel reite, und ein Westernsattel hat ein Sattelhorn. Beim Hinuntergleiten blieb ich also mit meiner langen Bluse inklusive Kopftuch am Sattelhorn hängen, war so gerade mit den Füßen auf dem Boden. Hektisch löste ich meine Kleidung vom Sattelhorn und zog sie hinunter. Hab natürlich nicht geguckt, was die anderen wohl gesehen haben von der Aktion, aber die werden sich wohl ihren Teil gedacht haben. Lektion für mich: Nicht nur auf den Rock aufpassen beim Absteigen, sondern auch auf die Bluse, vor allem beim Westernsattel!
Nunja, nach dem Pferdetausch klappte es besser. Ich kam mit dem schwierigen Pferd besser zurecht, und die andere Reiterin kam mit meinem vorherigen Pferd besser zurecht. Der Rest des Ausritts verlief ohne größere Zwischenfälle. Alhamdulillah. Auch wenn ich diesmal ein langsames Pferd bekommen hatte, war es doch auch mal eine schöne Übung, auch mit einem anderen Charakter Pferd gut klarkommen zu müssen. Im Galopp war mein Wallach aber sehr fleißig. Nur im Schritt und Trab musste man ständig aufpassen dass er nicht zu weit zurückblieb. Wir hatten tolles sonniges Wetter an dem Tag und sind viel getrabt und galoppiert. Nach dem Reiten hab ich dem Pferd wie immer die Hufe ausgekratzt und es dann auf die Weide gebracht.
Als ich so über Hof und Weide lief, mit dem Pferd am Strick, musste ich schon schmunzeln. Ja, tatsächlich ein außergewöhnliches Outift, was ich trage. Und das am Reitstall! Schon besonders, auf jeden Fall. Und das ist gut so.

An elderly gentleman brought me the horse I was to ride and helped me saddle it up. After a while he looked at me, paused for a moment and then said: "A very unusual outfit what you are wearing!"

"Well, I can ask, or ... is not meant badly. I don't care what kind of religious and political views someone has, we are happy about everyone who comes riding here. Just to say, I've never had seen an outfit like that in the riding stable, so you wear this when riding...?, "replied the man gently.
"Yes, I know, no problem, it is very seldom to see someone in a headscarf and dress at the stables. But you know, I wear normal riding clothes underneath, I designed the skirt myself and I wear it over the normal clothes, "I said.
"Ah, that's how it is! Yes, right, we once had a woman here from a royal family, I don't remember which country she was from, she was also wearing something strange...Long clothes and underneath, she showed me, she weared a jeans!"
Oh yes, I'm always amazed that the women still wear pants under their riding skirts ;-) Well, that's what I would like to change. People have got used to the image of headscarves on the street, in the city, in shops, on the bus, in restaurants. But at the riding stables no, you don't know it there. On the one hand, this may be due to the fact that not many Muslim girls ride, either because the lack of opportunities to do so or because they are not interested. And on the other hand, it could be because the Muslim women who ride may unfortunately generally not wear a hijab or swap their skirts for breeches to ride, which is very sad. Well, I want to help ensure that a covered woman at the stables is seen as "normal" and that people realize that we Muslims can also ride with skirts. Almost 100 years ago it was quite normal for women to ride in long clothes ... But today it seems to be a problem. Sure, riding breeches are practical and weren't invented without a reason, but why not wear a skirt over them to make your hobby halal too? And to be able to enjoy riding without a guilty conscience?
"Tell me if the questions bothers you, I'm just curious ..." said the man suddenly.
"Oh, that's not a problem, you know, I prefer someone to ask than someone just staring at me and figuring out his own things that might not be right. Some people think I'm a Turkish woman, but no, I'm a German woman. So ask me! "
I have often noticed that people who really ask honestly out of interest are shy about asking their questions. But no, please, ask! Ask the Muslim women why they cover themselves, ask them why they love their religion, ask them why they pray, ask them! I am sure they will be happy to answer. I am sure that most people prefer that than to be judged at first glance (for something that is mostly not true and does not apply to the person). If it's an honest question, politely phrased, you will get a polite, honest answer.
And again ... Since still not everyone has noticed: Yeah, we wear the headscarf by choice! Because it is a duty in Islam. And if Allah commands us to do something, it is because it is good for us. And if he forbids us to do something, it is because it is bad for us. And we trust in Allah and to him we will return. And those who are forced to take off the headscarf or are prevented from putting it one on at all are much more than the other way around, believe me.
We rode off. It was a great ride. Right at the beginning of the ride, the woman who was leading us asked us to change horses, as one of the riders could not get along with her horse. I should take over her horse. When dismounting, the embarrassing situation came, which every riding Muslim with hijab fears: You get stuck. Very embarrassing, it actually never happened to me ... Well, I had forgotten that I now ride in a western saddle, and a western saddle has a saddle horn. So when sliding down I got stuck with my long blouse and headscarf on the saddle horn, with my feet straight on the ground. I frantically loosened my clothes from the saddle horn and pulled them down. Of course I didn't look what the others saw, but they must have thought their part. Lesson for me: not only take care of the skirt when dismounting, but also of the blouse, especially with the western saddle!
Well, after the horse change it worked better. I got along better with the difficult horse and the other rider got along better with my previous horse. The rest of the ride went without major incidents. Alhamdulillah. Even if I got a slow horse this time, it was also a nice exercise to get along well with another character. But my gelding was very hard-working at the gallop. Only when walking and trotting you had to be careful not to lag too far behind. We had great sunny weather that day and trotted and galloped a lot. After riding, I scraped out the horse's hooves as always and then brought it to the pasture.
As I ran across the yard and pasture with the horse on a rope, I had to smile. Yes, actually an extraordinary outfit what I wear. And that at the riding stables! Especially, definitely. And that's good.
