alhamdulillah endlich darf ich euch wieder eine Schwester vorstellen :-) Sie hat sich bei mir per Email gemeldet und ich habe sie gefragt, ob sie Lust hat, beim Interview mitzumachen. 

Wenn ihr auch Interesse habt, meldet euch gerne und schickt mir die beantworteten Fragen per Mail zu. Gerne könnt ihr auch ein Foto von euch hinzufügen, aber bitte macht das Gesicht unkenntlich, ansonsten kann ich das auch gerne für euch machen. Ich kopiere die Antworten, die ihr mir auf die Fragen schickt, genauso ab, ich formuliere also nichts um. Falls es doch nötig sein sollte, würde ich euch vor Veröffentlichung darauf ansprechen.

Wie heißt du und wie alt bist du?

As salamu alaikum, ich heiße Isra und bin 24 Jahre alt.

Bist du konvertiert oder geborener Muslim?

Ich bin geborener Muslim, alhamdulillah 

Seit wann praktizierst du den Reitsport?

Seit gut 14 Jahren

Welche Erfahrungen hast du als Muslima mit Hijab bezüglich dem Reiten gemacht? Wurdest du mit Vorurteilen konfrontiert?

Ehrlich gesagt habe ich es dahingehend relativ gut. Meine Reitbeteiligung steht in einem familiären Schulstall, eher alter Bauernhof, und es gibt nur 5 Privatpferde, davon sind zwei auch eher unter der Familie (meine RB eingeschlossen) und hier in Westdeutschland sind die Leute erfahrungsgemäß etwas offener, ich komme nämlich aus dem Osten und da war es anders, aber nie beim Pferd. Also da hatte ich nie Probleme. Nur meine Reitlehrerinnen finden den Reitrock ungeeignet, da sie meinen Sitz nicht gut korrigieren können, wenn da alles bedeckt ist. Aber verurteilet hat mich da niemand und auch nie wegen meiner Religion angesprochen.

Reitest du regelmäßig oder eher ab und zu?

Ich bin fünf Tage die Woche beim Pony und reite zusätzlich noch einmal die Woche woanders im Unterricht.

Welche Möglichkeiten zum Reiten hast du als Muslima bereits genutzt?

Ich bin zwei Mal in Algerien geritten, ansonsten war ich als Kind halt in Schulbetrieben und habe seit ich 16 bin Reitbeteiligungen gehabt.

Was hat dir dabei am Besten gefallen?

Ich liebe nicht nur die Zeit mit dem Pferd, sondern auch alles drumherum. Ich arbeite gern im Stall, schlendere durch die Natur, fege den Hof, rede mit den Leuten, freue mich auf die Hunde und Katzen etc. Ich gehe gerne mit Stallnachbarn große runden, arbeite aber auch gerne in der Halle mit dem Pferd.

Hast du schon negative Erlebnisse und Reaktionen von deinem Umfeld auf deinen Hijab/Religion beim Reiten bekommen?

Nicht spezifisch, nein. Allerdings  finden meine Reitlehrerinnen wie beschrieben den Reitrock für den Unterricht ungeeignet und bitten mich, den für die Stunde auszuziehen. Das ist nicht optimal, aber es rennen in der Pferdebranche Gott sei Dank fast eh nur Mädels rum und ich bin meist mit der Lehrerin (und selten auch anderen Reiterinnen) in der Halle alleine und ziehe ihn danach gleich wieder an.

Was war dein bestes Erlebnis beim Reiten mit Hijab?

Da gibt es kein spezifisches. Ich bin einfach froh, dass die Leute akzeptieren was ich anziehe, zumal der Hof wo meine Rb steht, eh nicht schickimicki ist und da keiner guckt, dass du Pikeur und bling bling trägst, von daher ist es allen eigentlich egal was man trägt. Ich bin natürlich stolz, uns Schwester vertreten zu können und zu zeigen, dass es sehr wohl möglich ist, als Muslima zu reiten. Viele junge Schwestern aus der Moschee dürfen es von zu Hause aus nicht, weil man ja breitbeinig sitzt oder das Jungfernhäutchen reißen kann. Ich finde, das zweite sind einfach Mythen und es ist meiner Meinung nach Unsinn. Mit einem guten Reitrock kann man finde ich sehr wohl breitbeinig sitzen. Man sitzt ja nicht offen breitbeinig wie auf dem Sofa. Naja, das ist zumindest meine Meinung, es gibt keine authentische Überlieferung, die das Reiten speziell für Frauen verbietet.

 

Und was war dein schlimmstes Erlebnis?

Wie stehen deine Familie und deine Freunde dazu, dass du reitest?

Meine Eltern fanden es von Anfang an in Ordnung, wollen aber mit meinem Hobby so nichts zu tun haben. Aber sie lassen mich machen und finden es gut.

Was ist dein Traum für die Zukunft?

Nach vielen Jahren Träumerei und Zeit zu reifen, hat sich der Wunsch nach einem eigenen Pferd verfestigt und ich würde ihn mir soo gern zeitnah erfüllen. Durch jahrelange Erfahrung mit Reitbeteiligungen und Selbstversorger-Ställen (habe auch mal Pferdewirt-Ausbildung angefangen)bin ich mir absolut über die Arbeit, Verantwortung und Kosten bewusst, die da auf mich zukommen. Allerdings ist es einfach teuer und ich muss das Geld schon zusammenkratzen. Immerhin wohne ich noch daheim und muss keine Miete zahlen. Habe in nächster Zeit nicht vor auszuziehen, und solange ich keinen Mann finde, wird das wohl so bleiben  Also 100% das eigene Pferd !

How long have you been practicing horseback riding?

For a good 14 years

As a Muslim woman wearing a hijab, what are your experiences with horseback riding? Have you faced prejudice?

To be honest, I am actually quite lucky. My riding participation is in a familiar school stable, rather an old farm, and there are only 5 private horses, two of which are more likely to be with the family (the horse I am riding included) and here in West Germany, from experience, people are a bit more open, because I come from the East and it was different there, but never with the horses. So I never had any problems there. Only my riding instructors think the riding coat is unsuitable because they cannot correct my seat well when everything is covered. But no one condemned me and never spoke to me about my religion.

Do you ride regularly or more occasionally?

I'm with the pony five days a week and once a week I take riding lessons in another stable.

What horseback riding opportunities have you already used as a Muslim?

I rode twice in Algeria, otherwise as a child I rode in riding schools and have had horseback riding participations since I was 16 years old. 

What did you like best about it?

I not only love the time with the horse, but also everything around it. I like working in the stable, strolling through nature, sweeping the yard, talking to people, looking forward to seeing the dogs and cats, etc. I like going for long rides with the other riders and their horses, but I also like working in the riding hall with the horse.

Have you already had negative experiences and reactions from your environment to your hijab/religion while riding?

Not specific, no. However, as described, my riding instructors find the riding coat unsuitable for the lesson and ask me to take it off for the lesson. That's not ideal, but thank God it's almost only girls running around in the horse industry anyway and I'm usually alone with the teacher (and rarely with other riders) in the hall and put it on again immediately afterwards.

What was your best experience with "horseback riding with hijab"?

There isn't anything specific. I'm just glad that people accept what I wear, especially since the courtyard where my horse is isn't chic anyway and since nobody looks that you're wearing expensive brands, so it doesn't really matter to anyone what you wear. Of course I am proud to be able to represent us sisters and to show that it is very possible to ride as a Muslim. Many young sisters from the mosque are not allowed to do it at home because you sit with your legs apart or you can tear your hymen. I think the second ones are just myths and it's nonsense in my opinion. With a good riding skirt you can sit with your legs apart, I think. You don't sit openly with your legs apart like on the sofa. Well, that's my opinion at least, there's no authentic lore that specifically forbids riding for women.

And what was your worst experience?

I haven't had one yet alhamdulillah

How do your family and friends feel about you riding?

My parents thought it was okay from the beginning, but they don't want to have any deep involvement with my hobby. But they let me do it and think it's good.

What is your dream for the future?

After many years of dreaming and time to mature, the desire for having my own horse has solidified and I would  like to fulfill it in a timely manner so much. Through years of experience with riding participation and self-catering stables* (I also started an apprenticeship to become a horse manager), I am absolutely aware of the work, responsibility and costs that I have to face. However, it is expensive and I have to scrape the money together. At least I still live at home and don't have to pay rent. I don't plan to move out any time soon, and as long as I don't find a husband, it will probably stay that way 😉 So 100% my own horse!

*In Germany, we call it Selbstversorgerstall, and what is meant is that you rent a box for your horse and pay less money, but you will have to to all the work by yourself: bringing the horse to the pasture, feeding the horse, buying straw and hay, mucking out the stables...
